This Helibase provides a landing pad for several USFS and DNRC Heli-attack wildfire crews. During the fire season, visitors are still welcome to visit, but are asked to remain out of the way if fire activities are taking place.

If you are visiting the Gallatin Canyon, the helibase can be an exciting place to visit. Visitors are welcome to stop by, however, staff is minimal and assisstance takes second priority to any wildfire activities that the base may be supporting at the time. Please be curtious to the staff and respect their work area and obey all posted signs.

Turn at the Storm Castle Campground exit and follow the dirt road approx. 1/4 mile to helibase. There are two helipads.
