The church was erected in 1912 on the site of a Wesleyan chapel.

The design of the church is in the art nouveau gothic style that has been used in several churches in Hertfordshire, for example the Baptist churches at Hertford and Breachwood Green.

The building is constructed of banded courses of red and cream brick with stone dressings. There is a semi octagonal porch with a three light gable window above the porch. At either side of the porch there are towers with wrought iron decoration to their tops. Unlike the Baptist church versions of this architecture, there are no foundation stones anywhere on the building.
