NOTE: 1/15/2014 - Memorial Park is temporarily closed to the public for renovations. Expected to re-open in the Fall of 2014.

Memorial Park was established in 1908. It is located between Classen Blvd. and Western Avenue, just south of N.W. 36th Street. This is a beautiful area, with rolling land, a huge concrete fountain and picnic areas.

In the center of the park are 4 tennis courts and a basketball court. It is not known what year the court was constructed, however the concrete looks quite old and it is in a park that is quite old. Whether it is original to the construction of the park, there's no way to tell. Basketball was invented in 1891, so it would have been quite a new sport at the time this park was established.

The concrete, although old is in surprisingly good condition. There were a few crack lines, but for the most part it is very serviceable. The hoops have rope nets, and they are not in good condition. As I was leaving center court, there were two teens waiting to "shoot some hoops."

Full Court?: yes

Nets on hoops?: yes

Court Access: Public

Surface Quality: Worn, Barely See Lines, Cracks in Concrete
