Palos Verdes Estates library is located by the commercial and downtown area of Palos Verdes Estates. The city hall is located in the upper area of the civic center. The city hall is on a slight slope, with a pathway leading from the parking lot to the city hall's entrance. Besides the city hall, the civic center also houses the police and fire station. It's unsure when the city hall was built, but it was after the 1940s.
The small city is one of four in the Palos Veres peninsula. The city was incorporated in 1939, and was planned by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr..
