This little chapel has at various times been a coal merchant's office and a clerks office connected to Halton quay. The room below the chapel was used as a store for salmon fishermen's nets until the demise of salmon fishing in the area.
The building was leased from Captain Coryton of nearby Pentillie Castle for a annual rent of two shillings and six pence (12 1/2 pence). The chapel was consecrated by Archdeacon of Bodmin the Venerable W.H.Prior in June 1959. There is seating for 18 worshippers in the chapel. A few years ago the chapel again fell into disrepair and was deemed unsafe for services. Local residents decided the chapel had to be restored and a programme of work costing several thousand pounds was instigated. Private donations from local residents enabled a new altar and furnishing to be provided. Trustees of the closed Methodist chapel at Polborder provided four pews. The chapel was rededicated by the Bishop of St Germans.
