In the south chapel are two medieval Knights lying in the windows. They date to the 14th century and predate the church (1454). The Knights are unknown men but are depicted in relaxed positions uncommon for the era. One has a helmet, the other places his hand on the helmet but both are not 'strictly cross-legged' (as reported by Pevsner).
One thought is that the Knights represent members of the Chidiock family and were moved to this church when the neighbouring Priory was demolished.
The Knight in the North Aisle wears chain-mail, a belt and spurs. He has a sword and a shield. His feet rest on a dog.
Approximate Age of Artefact: 14th Century
