This sculpture is known as The Union Workers Memorial by sculptor Thomas Jay Warren. This is one of two sculptures by Thomas Jay Warren on the Atlantic City Boardwalk (the other is the nearby New Jersey Korean War Memorial). This sculpture depicts a contemplative worker with his hardhat in his right hand and ruminating over the names on the adjacent monument which is "DEDICATED TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF ORGANIZED LABOR WHO LOST THEIR LIVES WHILE WORKING ON THE REDEVELOPMENT OF ATLANTIC CITY- WE HONOR THESE WORKERS" And underneath are the names of the departed workers with their Union membership and date of death. As of 9/2010, there were 25 names engraved on the front of the monument and 1 on the back. The monument also indicates that the Memorial was dedicated April 28, 1998 by the members of the Atlantic- Cape May County C.L.C.- AFL-CIO.
