At one time the Willamette Valley had more than a million acres of prairie. Today less than one percent remains. And even though much of the land in this region is unsuitable for farming, due to the layer of fan basalt beneath the shallow topsoil, the need is still felt to alter the land. This preserve provides a habitat for many endangered and threatened species once common to the Valley. And to do so all activities here are banned except for hiking on defined trails and photography. Parking is available near the listed coordinates.
Estimated size of the public land (in regional measurement standard: hectares, acres, kms, etc.): 152 acres
