Mesto Stríbro leží nad údolím reky Mže. Nejstarší archeologické nálezy jsou z doby kamenné a bronzové. První písemné zmínky jsou datovány rokem 1183. Celá historie se odvíjela od výhodné polohy na trase obchodní cesty Praha - Norimberk. Neméne duležité je pro Stríbro hornictví a dolování rud, které daly samotnému mestu jméno.
