Warm Springs, Georgia is the site of a warm mineral spring that has been used for the healing properties of its waters for hundreds of years, first by American Indians and later by European settlers of the area.

Eventually a hotel and resort was built in the area to accomodate those who wanted to bathe in the waters. Franklin D. Roosevelt first came here in the 1920s because he believed that swimming in the warm water helped to improve the paralysis that he suffered because of polio. He bought the springs in 1926 and developed a treatment center for other victims of polio.
The spring water has a very high mineral content and comes out of the ground at a temperature of between 86-88 degrees F, Information about the springs can be found here:
