Chandler was born in Cornwall, Connecticut or in Vermont (sources vary on birth
place, tombstone says Vermont) on September 10, 1753. He served as a Private
from Connecticut. He served in the Battle of Battle of Bennington with his
father, who was killed. He died at the home of his son Hiram, near Otterville,
IL on October 4, 1844 at the age of 91.
