In a palloza, animals and people spent the nights together in separate areas, in order to keep warm and keep the animals safe from the elements. The building was out of stone and the roofs were from cane sticks piled up and supported by wooden supports. A few of them remain in the area to preserve the cultural heritage of this Celtic region of Spain.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark: If you are walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain you will run into this building.
If you wish to visit by car, from the national highway that goes from Madrid to A Coruna, you turn at Piedrafita de O'Cebreiro in the Galicia region and follow the signs to O'Cebreiro the road will take you 5 Kms up the hill to the site of this old settlement where this building is at.
