Mill Pond Park is enjoyed by the community year-round. When it was first created in the 1830’s, Mill Pond Park was a place of commerce and industry. The pond was created in 1835 when John Langstaff and his son built a dam on a branch of the Don River to establish a sawmill. Today, Mill Pond Park provides a variety of recreation and leisure activities for all ages including Mill Pond Splash, a celebration of the Don Watershed, and Concerts in the Park, a number of music concerts and barbecues held throughout the summer that feature a variety of music genres.
Mill Pond Park has a playground equipped with swings, bouncy toys and playhouses for children to enjoy. Alongside the play area are numerous picnic tables, benches and a gazebo for people to relax while overlooking the pond and horticultural displays. Parking and bathrooms are both located on the south side of the park. Beyond the park, the trail allows you to explore the natural beauty of Richmond Hill. Following the trail around the pond brings people to various scenic lookouts. Continuing along the pathway, there are more challenging slopes, which bring you out along Regent Street where you can access a plaza and Stavert Park. The trail then winds back around to the main entrance beside the park. Whether hiking, biking, rollerblading or walking along the Mill Pond Trail, it is an excellent place to spend leisure and recreational time.
