This congregation was founded in 1887 and began the search for a place of worship in rural Templeton. After buying this lot, they built this church themselves from local brick. At the time it was named the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Bethel Church, now simply Bethel Lutheran. It's still an active church involved in the community with such programs as Loaves and Fishes, with youth outreach, and with adult study each Sunday prior to the service.
