In front of the Children's Museum entrance, at 305 E. Houston Street, in downtown San Antonio, TX, is a bronze sculpture set on a red granite base. The sculpture is of a father playing with his young son. The boy is on the dad's back and is grabbing onto his dad's head in a playful moment. The title of the sculpture is "First Born Son" by Victor Salmones. The original title of the piece was named "Primogenito" by Salmones, but was translated on the engraved granite base as "First Born Son". This piece of artistic sculpture was a gift of Mr & Mrs Travis Hansson. Mr. Travis Hansson is associated with the Victor Salomones Gallies. The base of the sculpture is engraved with, "'First Born Son' 1971/ By/ Victor Salmones 1935-1089/ Gift of / Mr. & Mrs. Travis Hansson//" A search of the art auction houses offering various other sculptures of Victor Salmones show his work sells from around $500 thru $40,000 USD. Victor Salmones was a Mexican artist who specialized in bronze figures, usually in some form of action, and often as a pair of people interacting together. He won several awards in his lifetime for his creations that he would typically make from the "lost wax" method of casting statues.
