M. K. Davis Restaurant and Bar is located at 1302 N. Flores, San Antonio, TX. It is an unassuming one story, stone building with light brown trim, making it easy to pass by if you are not alert. There is ample parking, with three large lots to choose from that surround the building. This restaurant has been in business since 1956 and the inside of the place hints that not much has changed over that time. The good news is that the food is good and worth the price. It is not geared for fine dining, but if you like a meal for lunch or dinner to fill you up for less than $10-12 dollars, then this is it. They have a full bar and are famous for their large, cold 32 oz. schooners of beer. It is fun to watch the waitstaff carry the large scooners across the room to serve them. The menu has the headings of Appetizers, Mexican Dishes, From the Sandwich Board, Fried Chicken, Steaks, and Seafood Specialties. The rest is Beer & Wine, Side Orders and Soft Drinks. MK Davis serves five selections as Lunch Specials and has an additional "lunch special of the day" on Tuesday - Thursday. Lunch specials are $6.45 at the time of this posting (Sep. 2010). To Go orders can be gotten for $0.30 extra. This place has its flaws but the fact remains that the food is good for the price. Big portions, consistent menu, and dependable taste. Now the question is: Is this the place for your palate? Try it out to see if your taste and their cooking are compatable. If so, you have joined a host of others who frequent here often. If not, then smile nicely and seek elsewhere for your culinary delights. The Google reviews of MK Davis show comments across the whole range of Love it to Hate it. If you are hungry and want a laid-back atmosphere, then this is the place to eat. Yum.
