Palmer Trig
Well hidden in the suburb of Amaroo.

Palmer Trig is a great reconstruction of the original rock cairn.
It makes a surprising find, surrounded completely by peoples back fences.

There is a plaque on the base reads.

PALMER
TRIGONOMETRICAL STATION

THIS "POLE AND CAIRN"WAS ORIGINALLY ERECTED IN 1878

NOW RECONSTRUCTED, IT IS TYPICAL OF EARLY SURVEY
"TRIGS" WHICH FORMED A NETWORK ACROSS
NEW SOUTH WALES. SURVEYORS WOULD USE THESE STATIONS
DURING THE COURSE OF ORIGINAL LAND GRANTS SURVEYS
AND MAPPING PROJECTS.

PLAQUE DONATED BY
THE INSTITUTION OS SURVEYORS, AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA DIVISION
