I took my coordinates standing on an NRHP concrete arch bridge located on Frankford Avenue, spanning the Poquessing Creek. The creek is pretty tame about this area. In other parts of the creek, there are other historic bridges including a neat little bridge at the Lincoln Highway which is no longer in use when it was bypassed by the Roosevelt Expressway. To obtain some of my pictures, I actually stood in the water and faced south toward the bridge. Another bridge from the late 19th century was to my rear, that one being a stone, multiple arch bridge
Wikipedia's geographical reports states Poquessing Creek is a small creek, a right tributary of the Delaware River, that forms part of the boundary between Bucks County and the northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has been part of the boundary between Bucks and Philadelphia counties since 1682.
The creek arises in Trevose and meanders almost 7 miles (11.3 km) to the southeast before emptying into the Delaware River. The name Poquessing comes from the Lenape "Poetquessnink," meaning "place of the mice." The mouth of the Poquessing on the Delaware was first proposed as the site for William Penn's Philadelphia, and for many years the surrounding area was known as "Old Philadelphia."
