NGS MY2558, an intersecting station, is a spire on a building referred to as the Hampstead New Church on the NGS and NHDOT datasheets. The datasheets show 'no description' probably due to the nature of this type of mark. According to the files, first observation was made in 1886. There may have been maintenance or restoration work performed on the spire, possibly leaving it's 'originality'(roof shingles, etc) status subject to debate, primarily concerning as to whether or not the topmost ornament was disturbed significantly during such operations. However, the overall structure in it's primary form has not changed and the measurements still hold. The horizontal coordinates are adjusted.
The station is located in Hampstead. To reach the station from the intersection of NH State Routes 111 and 121 in Hampstead, go north on SR 121 for 1.1 mile to Emerson Road, turn right and go 0.1 mi to the station on the left, just past the police station. The station is the top of a spire on a former church building now called a Meeting House.
While this church building is being classified as a U.S. Benchmark here, it is also on the National Register of Historic Places, and a former church in the community.
