This is the oldest of the Salinas firestations, and is tied for smallest. On each shift, the three-person crew has at least one member with paramedic training. The firetruck is the first responder to most emergencies, 911 calls for medical assistance, etc.
In 2007, the Salinas Fire Department responded to 11,006 calls - total for the six stations. Since Station 2 is the least busy, it's a fair guess that they handled somewhere between 1100 - 1500 calls per year.
