From Water Lane, about all you would see here is the top of the post sticking out over the top of the fence. It would have been so easy to route the fence round the back of the post and kept it on show.
Of course, this protection means that the post is in very good condition! No plate to the front though.
As I walked away from this to CP45, I spotted a heron (Heron pic 1). It was motionless and I grabbed my camera to get a shot or two. As I pressed the shutter the second time, it moved quickly making a large splash (Heron pic 2). The penny didn't drop even then! And then I saw what it was doing (Heron pic 3). Since this happened within 100 feet of the coal post I thought that I would post these pics here.
