The plaque reads - "This sculpture of a fettler commemorates the role of the ganger in the history of Boyanup. It was unveiled by Joe Szymanski and Cr Lloyd Merritt on 16th October, 1994."
The sculpture shows a ganger sitting on some railways sleepers having his 'smoko'. Tools of his trade are at his feet - a piece of railway line, some railway dogs and a sledge hammer.
The piece sits on a brick pedestal in Fettlers Park on the Boyanup Picton Road. Nearby is the Boyanup Musuem of Transportation and Rural Industries.
