The Kingsport PET plant produced fresh milk products for East Tennessee, Southwestern Virginia and Western North Carolina. Opened in 1953, the site was purchased by Dean Foods in 2001. The plant had produced regular fluid milk, flavored milk, butter milk, egg nog, soft serve ice cream mix, half and half, heavy cream, and flavored drinks. The closure resulted in loss of 120 jobs.
