Approximately four and one-half miles west of downtown Piedmont stands an attractive 400,000 gallon water storage facility, painted aqua. Against the green fields it is a pretty sight.
A sign states it is under the authority of the Piedmont Municipal Authority, and was funded by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.
Beginning in the 1970's and continuing today, the town of Piedmont is growing rapidly. Once a small, rural farming community, it has now become a growing bedroom community for those who would like to live in a quieter, less expensive area and still commute to their job in Oklahoma City.
The storage facility is located at the northeast corner of West Washington Avenue and N.W. Cimarron Road, just east of where Washington Avenue intersects with Northwest Expressway.
