UPDATE: August 2018; It has come to our attention that this caboose was hit by a tornado in May of 2011. Knocked off its track and laying on its side, it became too expensive a proposition to restore its position and continue with the bed and breakfast. The owner decided not to attempt to restore. We are uncertain what became of this caboose, which apparently was moved to another location.
Out on our caboose search, we came upon a very unique situation. There are two cabooses (or is that caboosi) located at the Red Rooster Inn, in addition to a log cabin Bed and Breakfast. They are located at 15830 N.W. Expressway, just west of Oklahoma City.
Caboose BN 10649 is a guest room. It is painted Red, dubbed "The Red Rooster," and fully remodeled within. Accommodations include heat/AC, queen sized bed, TV, fridge, microwave, with an old-fashioned tub and shower. It has wood floors and a porch, and rents for $125.00 per night. A photo of the I.D. plate on the caboose is part of the gallery. Railfan indicates that this car was acquired from the Fremont and Elkhorn Valley in Nebraska and has DRMX reporting marks.
