This is a really good place to view relatively recent lava flow (well, 5000 years old). The formations are interesting, the documentation along the walking trails is terrific, and there are even a few geocaches to retrieve during your visit. It's amazing to think that magma forced its way 30-50 miles upward through the crust to find its way to the surface right here. The location feels otherworldly... or underworldly.
