This trailhead overlooks Turtle Bay Exploration Park and a bend of the Sacramento River from Hilltop Drive. This paved trail is the easternmost end of a trail system which parallels the river all the way to Shasta Dam, with segments on both sides of the river. Pedestrians, dogs, bicyclists, and skaters are allowed, but not horses. Water and restrooms are available in several places along the trail.

Public busses run along Hilltop Drive with a stop near the trailhead, and there is street parking available.
