The mother holds the hand of a child whilst that child in turn holds the hand of another child.
The sculpture sits on the west side of the Herbert. It has been re-sited a number of times in its past including then the West Orchards shopping centre was constructed.
The work was one of the winners of a sculpture competition held by Coventry Council, the result of which was to give four students an opportunity to have their work displayed in the City.
I have not been able to find out any further information on the artist.
