Nice park located in the Bayside historic District along Bay Avenue. It has a playground, a beach with lifeguard station, a structure for what I don't know and lots and lots of sand. There are concerts during the summertime on this beach promoted by a large sign near the street. To the right is a War of 1812 monument, to the center a citizens memorial as well as a dedicated cedar flag pole.. Parking is street side as the park does not have dedicated parking. The area was clean, safe and in nice shape and very busy.
The playground was not in use when I visited. It is a pretty nice place for a playground, right on a very small beach, in the back next to the sidewalk. A wall separates the playground from the street and walkway. It is a fairly typical, commercial, put-together playground with a 2 slides, some climbing apparatus, and a small straightaway for crawling or whatever.
The Somers Point Bayfest committee is the one who placed the playground on April 30, 2005, A rock with a plaque attached in the corner says so.
