A 3-die machine on top of the 1142 meter high Mount Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Northern Germany.
The machine takes a 5 eurocent coin to be smashed, and a 1 euro coin in order to let the machine work. There are three designs available. One shows the German writer Goethe with the text "GOETHE AM BROCKEN", the other shows the broadcast tower on top of Mt. Brocken with the text "BROCKEN HARZ 1142m", and the third one shows a steam locomotive of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen with the text "BROCKENBAHN HARZ".
The machine is located inside close to the entrance of the "Zum Brockenwirt" café. The posted coordinates mark the entrance of the café. The machine is available only during opening hours of the café.
Mount Brocken is the highest mountain in Northern Germany. The climate is harsh, and on average the mountain is covered in mist about 300 days of the year. Steam trains of the train company "Harzer Schmalspurbahnen" take you to the top of the mountain both summer and winter over the so called "Brockenbahn" railway. Close to the border of Western Germany, during the cold war the Soviet Army and East German Intelligence were stationed on Mt. Brocken.
