The Davis post office is located at 900 E. Main Street in this town of 2670 people. Davis is located 2 miles east of Interstate 35, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and State Highway 7.

Hours: M-F: 8:30-4:30
Sat: 8:30-10:30

A post office was established here on March 1, 1890. The town was named for Samuel H. Davis, prominent early resident and merchant. The town was originally going to be named Chigley, after Nelson Chigley, a Chickasaw on whose land the townsite was located. However, "Chigley" was already an Indian Territory town designation.
Davis successfully petitioned for a Santa Fe depot to be constructed near his establishment. Davis owes its existence to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

By 1900, the town of Davis had 57 businesses, and a population of 1346. Davis was at the heart of one of the best cotton producing areas in Oklahoma.

Davis is the home of Turner Falls Park, which the residents voted to purchase for $21,000 in 1925. Located in the Arbuckle Mountains, Turner Falls is a popular resort area today.

Oklahoma's "Initial Point," from which all of Oklahoma except the Panhandle was surveyed, and Fort Arbuckle are about 8 miles west of Davis. The Initial Point (NR 70000533) and the Davis Santa Fe Depot (NR 94001507) are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
