King Chulalongkorn (1853-1910), also known as Rama 5, is one of the great kings of Thailand, and fondly remembered by his people. Statues of him are frequently to be seen throughout Thailand, frequently at the front of provincial administration buildings.

This statue of the king stands in front of the Korat province admin building, in Korat city, north central Thailand. The king stands on a plinth, and is in western military garb. As with most Thai statues, this is also a shrine. People can pay their respects and make offerings before the statue.

The gate in front of the statue seems to have been blocked off (August 2010). Possibly due to the civil disturbances caused by the 'Red Shirt' protesters earlier in the year (first half of 2010).
