About the Statue
The statue is of stone. St. Jude is clad in a robe with long flowing hair. The statue was donated by Mary McGee and Elizabeth Kennedy in memory of Mrs. Beatrice Rueter. The statue is underneath a freestanding gray block, stone arch. The statue is on a 4-foot socle which in turn is on a one foot pedestal. The statue is along a walkway.

Who is St. Jude?

St. Jude is one of Jesus Christ's twelve apostles. Within other churches, he is a patron church but in the Catholic Church he is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes, probably something most of us can identify with at one time or another. He has an attribute, kind of like a Pokeman. His attribute is a club. Other statues have him holding it but this one does not. Also, he is portrayed as having a flame over his head, this one is flame off. The statue does have a nub on his head so perhaps at one time there was a flame present.

From what I learned, Jude, or Judas as some refer to him, traveled around to different cities and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is a ton of religious information available about him and a ton of Biblical references. My friends at Wikipedia helped me find some historical facts. According to the Armenian tradition, Saint Jude suffered martyrdom about 65 AD in Beirut, Lebanon together with the apostle Simon the Zealot, with whom he is usually connected. Their acts and martyrdom were recorded in an Acts of Simon and Jude
