Built after WWI as an ordinance depot along the Delaware River, this site, known as Camp Pedricktown, served from 1960 - 1966 as the Army Air Defense Command Post for all Nike missiles within the Philadelphia Defense Area.
The command post was later relocated to an area near Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Camp Pedricktown continued in active service, however, as a training and hospital facility until it was closed in 1995.
