The plaque reads:
"The Symmes Farm - Farm of about three hundred acres granted to the Reverend Zachariah Symmes, first minister of Charlestown, in 1634. This portion of the farm is still owned by his descendents."
Charlestown amalgamated and subdivided with some other entities and created modern-day Winchester in 1850. The current area around the plaque is no longer a farm, but a residential neighborhood. In fact, the plaque is now standing in the middle of a traffic island just north on Main St (Rte 38) of the rotary where Main St, Bacon St, and Grove St meet.
