The text on the plaque states: In rememberance of General Anthony Wayne an American Soldier. Distinguised for valor in the was of the revolution. Appointed in 1792, on Washington's recommedation, General-In-Chief of the U.S. Army. In 1794, vanquished the indian tribes of the northwest, ensuring the safe settlement of northwestern Pennsylvania and notherern Ohio. Died in Erie, PA, Dec. 15, 1796. Erected by Presque Isle Chapter Daughters Americal Revolution, in 1902.
