This is part of a series of markers released in 2002 to celebrate Somers Point centennial anniversary. The durable, metallic sign is of the heavy duty variety and located roadside while traveling south. Somers Point is kind of a gateway town to the shore. It is the last town before traversing the bridge to Ocean City. All in all, it is definitely a shore town. You can smell the salt air and see seagulls while reading the marker.

The marker reads

BASS HARBOR
___ ... ___
Bass Harbor was a busy port
for barges and sloops which
carried produce, wood and ice
to local businesses and
residences. From privateering
and smuggling, to clamming
and fishing, to recreational
boating, the bayfront has
always played an active part in
the economy of Somers Point.
Marker by Harbour Cove and the City Of
Somers Point.
