As part of an extended set of activities at the Lak Mueang (City Pillar Shrine) of the city of Suphan Buri in central Thailand, is a large, free standing bell. This bell is ~2m high, housed in a traditional Chinese themed structure, and for the cost of a mere 20 baht (~60c), you can strike this bell three times. Strictly speaking, this is part of a religious and cultural practice, but most folk seem to enjoy the experience in itself. Lots of families and screaming kids.

This bell, to me, did not seem that loud. I have struck bells, both smaller and the same size, which produced a louder sound.

note: The current google satpic (8/2010) does not show the bell structure, however, the gps spot is spot on. That is waymarking bell icon is in the correct position.
