Coal post 42 is different to the others in the area. It is one of the smaller obelisks. It is in a private garden so you would need to knock if you wanted to get a better view than is possible from the street.
It appears to be a granite obelisk standing on a metal plinth. There also seems to be a set of 4 studs that may have taken a plate which is not present.
The City of London List says that it is on railway property. This is not the case.
