Ulvila is one of the six towns in Finland that is founded in middle-ages. Ulvila was founded in the year 1365. The rights and privileges of a town had been granted to Ulvila by the king of Sweden, Albert of Mecklenburg.
Ulvila had actually been the northernmost town of the entire Swedish Empire in the Middle Ages and hence was important for the empire especially from the viewpoint of trading in the Gulf of Bothnia. Today city of Ulvila has population about 14 000.
