Access is from Interstate 81 to Route 49 (Central Square)to Toad Harbor Road to McCloud Road. Phillips Point has a bit of notoriety. Back in 2008, a near riot occurred beach side, courtesy of drunken revelers. As a result, a large locked gate now blocks motor vehicle access to the beach area. There are many posted signs. Just read and abide by them. Hikers and bicycles can make it past the large yellow gate without problem. From the small parking lot, you walk down a gravel road, approx 1 mile, to the beach area.
Estimated size of the public land (in regional measurement standard: hectares, acres, kms, etc.): approx 3600 acres

Lovely view of Oneida Lake, 3 Mile Bay and Frenchman's Island. The water is shallow enough and with a sandy bottom so as to make wading and swimming possible. Access is also available by boats, though do be careful of the shallow water.

Access to the area is from NYS Route 49 via Toad Harbor Road or Lower Road to Wheeler Road and West Road." This comes from the NYS DEC website describing 3 Mile Bay WMA.
