Bronze sculpture of three ice skaters with a stick made bij Marcus Ravenswaaij (Gorinchem, 11 june 1925 - Hoogblokland, 19 april 2003)who was a Dutch sculptor and medalist.
He was a son of the painter Hubert Ravenswaaij Antonie (1891-1972). Shortly after World War II he went to class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. The period 1955-1975 he was considered as the 'city sculptor' of Gorinchem where a much of his works can be found. He married in 1971 Marijke Deege, one of his students. In 1980 the couple moved to Hoogblokland. Ravenswaaij was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
This sculpture is caracteristic for this area were ice skating is even more popular than soccer. This area is also known for bringing forth many famous 'Elfstedentocht' ice skaters. Like Jan van der Hoorn (Winner 1956) and Henk Angenent (Winner 1997)
