I have been passing this Muffler Giant since the late 60s/early 70s and I am pretty sure it has always been here but a few of the sites said he used to be in Clementon and was dressed differently as well. I am trying to recall that but I am not remembering it at all. They say he had green hat, green pants and yellow shirt. Now he has black shirt, red pants and white suspenders. Someone placed a tire in HIS right hand (you would see it as left) to advertise for this garage. It truly is a huge advertising piece.

I found this piece on a website for NJ Muffler Men. The Royal Tire Man was previously in Clementon, NJ at Trio Tire (see left hand photo). He was ordered with a military-style cap to make him less Bunyan-like and more like a tire guy. He was installed on the roof there in the mid-1960s. In 2002, when Trio Tire was sold to Tire Corral, Royal Tire bought him for $10,000, moved and repainted him. His hat is now in storage. SOURCE

I did notice one thing about his hands. At one time he was holding something in them. The same goes true with the Cowtown Rodeo Muffler Man in Woodstown, NJ, The Alfred E. Neuman one on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights and possible the one at Playland's Golden Galleon Pirate's Golf in Ocean City, NJ. It appears they might have been holding an axe or some other instrument of destruction.
