Harold Hern had many roles in Cripple Creek, he was an athlete, coach, principal, educator, business owner, and civic leader. He also has a school baseball field dedicated in his honor.
Hern died in 2005, was also known as a storyteller, politician, community promoter and an author. His involvement with the town of Cripple Creek stemmed from the 1960's and into the 1980's.
Harold Hern and his family came to Cripple Creek from New Mexico in 1964.
