The artist Loredo Taft, inspired by the beauty of the Rock River Valley and the story of Black Hawk. He picture an Indian standing with folded arms atop the rocky butts, gazeing out across his lost lands. He dreamed of makeing a statue so that the legacey of the Indian would not be forgotton. The 50 foot statue stands on top of a 250 foot cliff above the Rock River.
