Within two days, two local bicyclists were killed in separate accidents. Dozens of bike enthusiasts gathered to pay respects to these men and erect ghost bikes at the location of their deaths.

Alan Spencer, 56, was riding a bicycle about 8:05 a.m. July 17 (2010) when he was struck by a vehicle in the 12500 block of N Midwest Boulevard. The driver left the scene and never reported the incident to police. Oklahoma City police said the accident occurred in daylight hours and Spencer easily would have been seen by drivers.

Spencer, of Edmond, was a drag car racer before beginning a career in home development, according to an obituary.
