The detail of this piece is exceptional. Study the determination in the face, the strain of the muscles, the power and gracefulness of the movement captured by the artist. Standing atop a fountain inside a plaza also designed by the artist, Richard MaDonald, this piece was created in 1996 and went on a nine city tour before coming to its home here in Atlanta.
For a great view of this piece consider viewing before sunrise. Obviously this would be an experience best shared with others if you are going to view this at such an hour. Please see the gallery for some pre-dawn photos.
