Marker Name: B17 - Wright Hotel
Marker Text: The railroad brought the outside world to Bend’s doorstep, and the builders of what was then the Taggert Hotel knew exactly how to capitalize on it. Located just one block from the depot, the hotel was a modern, fireproof structure with electricity and running water.
An enterprising woman named Nellie Wright eventually bought the hotel and renamed it for herself. She opened the Star Restaurant and Bakery and continued to operate the newly named Wright Hotel. Business flourished under her proprietorship.
Built: 1911-12
