Sewickley is an affluent suburb of Pittsburgh, with much history.

The church is a small building in a narrow street in town.

Earl Massie was a member, now deceased. The Massie family lived on Ferry Street, a few steps from the church. He was a faithful member and he worked for a family on Sewickley Heights. He was a humnle man, well liked in the community. One of the garden clubs in Sewickley planted a tree, either a dogwood or flowering cherry tree in his memory in the back yard. The original tree was lost when the parking lot was built. The current evergreen was later planted, and the plaque placed by the tree in the front of the church.
Location of the tree: church yard

Type of tree: fir
