Sculptured from fibreglass and steel this 6 metre spider is elevated high on a pole with steel wires underneath to form a web.

The sculpture of the Avondale spider, in the Town Centre, represents an Australian Huntsman Spider. A colony of these large spiders, established in Avondale in 1920, probably arrived on imported timber or packing cases.
